Dr. Sayuru Samarasundera — Executive Director
As an expert cocoa exporter and international trade leader, Dr. Sayuru brings a distinguished multi-sector background spanning international commerce, state-level industrial development, and scientific leadership. Formerly Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC) of Sri Lanka, he led national initiatives to drive pharmaceutical self-sufficiency and build compliant medical supply chains. As former Chairman of the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), he directed national programs in marine hydrography and sustainable fisheries development. Dr. Sayuru brings that institutional governance discipline directly into Aurex's origin-level operations.
Ruwan Jayaratne — Director
With a 16-year executive track record in Uganda and deep operational roots across East Africa, Ruwan brings cross-sector industrial, commercial, and operational leadership to Aurex Commodities. Well-networked within regional industrial, regulatory, and commercial circles, he has spent over a decade and a half driving business ventures and strategic partnerships. At Aurex, Ruwan oversees corporate strategy, regional infrastructure development, and financial architecture, ensuring robust institutional backing and frictionless execution from origin to market.
Mr. Sarath Premakumara — Operations & Quality Assurance Manager
Holding an M.Phil. in Crop Science from the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, Peradeniya, Mr. Sarath Premakumara brings extensive international agronomic and industrial processing expertise spanning Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Rwanda, the DRC, and Uganda. His track record includes serving as Cacao and Vanilla Development Manager at ESCO Kivu sarl in Beni, DR Congo, where he managed processing factories and tripled certified cocoa export volumes, alongside senior consultancy roles in Uganda, including at Kallal Agro Processors. His leadership also spans managing large-scale tea plantations and ISO 22000 food safety implementations in Rwanda, directing integrated coffee and agricultural development projects in Tanzania, and conducting agricultural research and innovation development with the Department of Export Agriculture in Sri Lanka. At Aurex Commodities, he oversees grading, warehouse management, moisture control, and quality assurance protocols to guarantee export-grade standards.
